Sneak of the Week: MLK Vaider

Who would have thought that a sneaker company could gain influence from a civil rights leader? Well they did, and the results are fashionable and beautiful.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
ShoesTV keeps an eye on the freshest sneakers that are being released not only in the U.S., but around the globe. And this week we’ve chosen a sneaker that really stands out from the crowd: The MLK Vaider by Supra.
Supra is largely known for its skateboarding shoes, as well as its skateboarding team that embarked on a European tour just last year. But the company ventured out to create a unique shoe in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., which is available now.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is on Monday, and had his life not been cut short by an assassin’s bullet, Dr. King would have been 83 years old on January 15.

The MLK Vaider
The MLK Vaider is all black with gold trim and a gold crown applique that gives the sneaks an ultra-classy vibe. The shoelace eyeholes are also golden in color and the gold crown insignia is replicated on the bottom of an otherwise all-black sole.
The gold and black color palette is likely a nod to King's fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha. The organization was the first inter-collegiate black Greek letter fraternity and was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, in 1906. The colors that represent the fraternity are black and gold.
The stylish, sophisticated MLK Viader Supra sneakers are available at all fine Supra retailers worldwide as well as suprafootwear.com.
